One of AltaSim’s clients designs and manufactures cylinders that contain high pressure gases. Their cylinders are manufactured to the highest safety and quality standards while maintaining portability. Our client was in the middle of a cylinder design project when a regulatory agency introduced a new design requirement. Having to meet this requirement threatened the original product development schedule. Supply chain delays also would push the development of physical prototypes back several months.
Solution:
Our client leveraged AltaSim’s extensive expertise in developing simulations that enable engineers to test design concepts virtually rather than physically. Several design concepts were provided for AltaSim to simulate. We were able to quickly simulate how the designs responded to the new regulatory requirements. All the simulations were completed in a matter of weeks rather than months.
Results:
Our client was able to select a specific design concept that they were able to physically test and validate against the regulatory requirements. They also were able to keep their product development on schedule by investing $15k and three weeks into simulating their design concepts rather than waiting for physical prototype development. Our client saved months of prototype development time by using AltaSim to assess their design concepts.
