Dr. Koppenhoefer, who prefers to be called Kyle, has extensive experience in a wide range of computational mechanics applied to the medical products, automotive, petrochemical and defense industries. He has considerable expertise in advanced finite element procedures and their application to the analysis of large structures. His specialties include:

  • Structural finite element analysis
  • Coupled thermo-mechanical FEA
  • Multiphysics FEA
  • Influence of residual stresses on structural behavior
  • Lifetime assessment of damaged components
  • Fatigue and fracture behavior of engineering materials and structures

Kyle has initiated and led industrial technology development programs focused on applying advanced computational analysis procedures to complex multi-physics analyses of real-world problems.

Kyle obtained his B.S. in Engineering Science and Mechanics, from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and his M.S. and PhD. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois. He currently resides in Columbus with his wife Beth and their three children.


VP Sales, AltaSim Technologies

David enjoys it when he can help a client solve their need. Many clients know what they want, but others may still be searching for the perfect fit. David works to educate clients, so that they can make a decision that is best for them. Sales is all about satisfying the needs of client in a way that will meet both their corporate and personal targets. 

David has 35 years of experience working for various companies in the chemical and industrial biotechnology industries. From a technical career start David transitioned to sales and marketing roles, where he led teams as their Global Growth Director, Global Vice President of Marketing and Chief Business Officer. 

David received his BS in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from Purdue University and his Executive Leadership and Management from Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. 


CFO, AltaSim Technologies

As a partner with B2B CFO John is focused on the success of business owners advising them how to increase cash, grow profits and value, and prepare for, and navigate, acquisitions and sales of businesses.  He has helped owners improve their results substantially which has reduced stress, improved lifestyle, and enabled growth.

He has a double major in Accounting and Finance from The Ohio State University, holds the CM&AA (Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor) designation, and has held CPA (inactive), CPCU and CIA designations.  He is a graduate of the Center for Creative Leadership in Cambridge, MA.

He and his wife are a longtime residents of Dublin, OH. They have three adult children.

Principal Engineer, AltaSim Technologies

Luke has over fifteen years experience in multiphysics analysis and specializes in problems relating to fluid flow, thermal, electromagnetic, plasma, electrochemical, and acoustic phenomena. At AltaSim he has been instrumental in the development and application of multiphysics analysis to real world problems in the Medical Products, Consumer Products, Semiconductor Devices, Electronics, Aerospace, and Energy markets.

Luke’s areas of expertise include:

  • Plasma physics
  • Electromagnetics
  • Optimization
  • Mathematical model development

Luke received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Michigan and now lives in Columbus with his wife and six children.

Research Engineer, AltaSim Technologies

Jess is the newest member of the AltaSim team. She recently received her doctorate in Physics. During this time she focused on self-diffusiophoresis of Janus particles, strengthening her skills in CFD and heat transfer.

She obtained her BA in Physics from Colby College and her MPhil and PhD in Physics from The Graduate Center, City University of New York.

Jess enjoys figure skating, reading, and going to the movies.  She will be splitting her time between Columbus and New York City.


Senior Engineer, AltaSim Technologies

Josh has over ten years of computational analysis experience, including graduate level training in computational mechanics modeling. At AltaSim, he plays a vital role in developing solutions to a wide range of multiphysics problems using COMSOL Multiphysics for the Aerospace, Petrochemical, Medical Products and Consumer Products industries. He is a lead instructor in many of AltaSim's classes and has worked extensively with structural mechanics problems and multiphysics problems involving thermal and structural analysis.

His areas of expertise include:

  • Multiphysics analysis using COMSOL
  • Structural analysis
  • Heat Transfer analysis
  • Application of SpaceClaim Engineer for 3D direct modeling

Josh received his Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University and lives in Columbus with his family.


Principal Engineer, AltaSim Technologies

Dr. Yushanov, better known as Sergei, has over thirty years experience in computational analysis and specializes in problems relating to electro-magnetic, vibration, structural, piezo-electric, and heat transfer. He has been instrumental in the development and application of multiphysics analysis to problems in the Automotive, Aerospace, Medical Products, Consumer Products, and Energy markets. Prior to joining AltaSim Technologies, Sergei performed mathematical modeling and computational analyses for design and technological process optimization in various areas. Among his areas of expertise are:

  • Electromagnetics, Structural analysis, Composite materials, Heat Transfer and Piezo-electrics
  • Multiphysics analysis using COMSOL
  • Structural analysis containing complex contact using ABAQUS
  • High rate loading analysis using LS-Dyna
  • Combined Structural and Thermal analyses of large scale structures

Sergei obtained his Master’s degree from the Latvian University and his PhD from the Russian Academy of Sciences. He lives in Columbus with his wife and likes to solve Maxwell’s equations with a pencil and paper.


Client Liaison, AltaSim Technologies

Lynne collaborates with our clients and our team to supply customer oriented, value-added services by assisting with access to information, expertise, services and documentation. In addition, Lynne also helps improve AltaSim’s efficiency by improving our operating practices and keeping our team organized; her background in business and education has proven to be a valuable skill in this area.

Lynne received her BS in Retail and Consumer Sciences from Miami University and Teacher Licensure from Notre Dame College. She lives in Delaware with her husband and enjoys spending time with their adult children and their families.
