Simulating Sensor Arrays that Use Multiphysics

AltaSim guides engineers through multiphysics simulations so they can bring their products to market more rapidly, at a lower cost and with an optimized design. Problem:

One of AltaSim's recent clients develops sensor arrays for locating resources in a complex background environment. Recent experiments showed that combining multiple sensor arrays operating on different physics significantly improved the accuracy of the sensor arrays. This new approach increases the accuracy of locating these resources over current approaches. Our client wanted to explore the design of this combined sensor array through simulations. Unfortunately, they did not have the expertise to combine all the physics from the different arrays into a Multiphysics simulation. Thus, they were unable to make the desired progress on developing their understanding of how the arrays worked together to provide more accurate results. Our client realized that the development of a simulation tool to represent these sensors would require significant investment.

Solution:

Our client leveraged AltaSim's extensive expertise in developing Multiphysics simulation to develop a proof-of-concept simulation that demonstrated how the multiple sensor arrays could be assessed within a single analysis. AltaSim developed the initial simulations within six (6) weeks and for an investment of less than $30,000.

Results:

This approach enabled our client to identify the benefits of Multiphysics simulations of their different sensors with a limited investment of time and money. The approach also provided their decision-makers the information needed to identify a path forward for the full simulation tool. Thus our client is now able to decide, with greater confidence, if they are willing to invest $5,000,000 and a year to develop this simulation capability and obtain the data required to implement and validate the simulations.
