Problem:

Our client’s engineers could not determine why the prototype of a new product they were designing yielded unexpected results. To achieve the intended outcomes, the engineers redesigned the prototype and proposed that variations in acoustic pressures within the device might affect its optical performance. However, they did not have the simulation expertise to develop a multiphysics simulation that tested this hypothesis.

Solution:

AltaSim created COMSOL Multiphysics® simulations to analyze acoustic pressure effects on device optics. This support and collaboration with the client ensured the simulations accurately reflected the prototype, and the results were used to assess multiphysics coupling and recommend design improvements.

Results:

The client invested $75,000 and within two months, AltaSim's simulation team solved the issue by validating the design team's hypothesis. The client produced a successful prototype and continued product development.
