Problem:
Our client was developing a new therapeutic solution utilizing electromagnetic fields. The device featured an energized coil positioned close to the body. A prototype and field measurements revealed that the coil did not generate the desired electromagnetic field. Our client needed a method to quickly quantify the impact of design changes on the electric field. Simulations offered the best path to expedite product development, but the client’s engineers didn’t have time to become proficient in simulation techniques.
Solution:
AltaSim worked with our client to identify the necessary information to develop simulations for their product development. Using COMSOL Multiphysics®, our team constructed the design geometry needed for the product development efforts. This collaborative effort allowed us to quickly modify the design geometry and apply the required physics to accurately represent their design.
Results:
For an investment of $30,000 and within one month, we provided our client with simulations that identified a design capable of generating the desired electromagnetic field. This saved our client time and money from having to construct and test physical prototypes. The device design produced from these simulations is undergoing physical prototyping for phantom testing.
