Problem:
AltaSim's client, who has significant experience using COMSOL Multiphysics simulations to design acoustic components, needed to include a high-power electronics component for a new product line. The client’s engineers were unsure how to simulate the heat transfer and spent several weeks developing simulations that produced physically unreasonable results. Needing to finalize the design within six weeks, the engineering team became frustrated by their lack of progress.
Solution:
AltaSim used our electronics cooling experience to rebuild their simulations and develop physically reasonable results. These results found that the electronics would be damaged by excessive heat created by this proposed design. AltaSim identified and simulated design changes that would reduce the electronics temperatures. AltaSim provided the simulations of the updated designs to our client’s engineering team and trained them on critical features of the simulations.
Results:
Our client’s engineering team used the simulations developed by AltaSim to assess design changes recommended by their design team. Utilizing AltaSim Technologies’ simulations, they met their design targets in four weeks, instead of the planned six weeks with an investment of only $35k.
